This event is for RCPCH members representing the College on an AAC. The AAC College Assessor acts on behalf of the College on an interview panel for consultant posts in the NHS.
We'll start with an overview of the process, and then break out into workshop sessions to explore the tricky situations that may arise at shortlisting or interview stage.

Aim
This aim of this training day is to provide guidance and advice to eligible RCPCH Ordinary Members and Fellows who represent the College on AAC consultant interview panels.
This helps ensure expertise and quality assurance are maintained and enhanced across the specialty.
Criteria
The College requires those wishing to represent on AAC interview panels to meet the following criteria:
- Must be an Ordinary Member or Fellow of the RCPCH
- Need to have spent two years as an NHS Consultant in a substantive position
- Be working actively as a consultant, or been retired for up to two years
- Be in good standing with RCPCH
- Have up to date equal opportunities training from the NHS

What will I learn?
- Attendees will be trained on how to act as external Assessors representing RCPCH at substantive consultant interviews (AACs).
- Through workshops, the attendees will encounter common problems, and learn how to quality assure appointments and where necessary challenge employers to ensure standards are upheld.
- An Equality and Diversity session is provided within this training day so attendees are aware of their own potential biases, as well as those of others.
- Interviewing techniques session is also included in the event.
