Scotland

We manage external relations with stakeholders and policymakers including the Scottish Government and organisations with an interest in child health. Our friendly team is here to make sure members in Scotland have a voice.

Our team works with paediatricians in Scotland and our two committees. We provide Scottish Government, Scottish Parliament and the third sector with up-to-date guidance and push for policy change to improve the health of children and young people in the nation.

This committee advises RCPCH Council on Scottish matters, and contributes to the development of Scottish Government policy. If you're a member in Scotland, contact your representatives about anything you want to discuss at a local or executive level.

This committee informs the College on matters pertinent to child protection in Scotland. We work with other groups and organisations on setting standards and coordinate training and education events in Scotland.

For our report, published in May 2025, we gathered insight from members in Scotland about community paediatric services and are now bringing recommendations directly to Members of the Scottish Parliament.

Prolonged waiting times in paediatric care can have severe consequences. Our report in March 2024 analysed the data and makes recommendations on the workforce, data collection and access to services.

The recommendations from last year's report remain unchanged and indeed they have become increasingly urgent. In our briefing in March 2025, we explain how overall waits are still unacceptably high.
